The Meaning Behind Moroccan Patterns
28 September 2026 · 1 min read

Walk through any riad and you will see the same language repeated in zellige, carved plaster and cedar: interlacing stars, endless lattices and flowing arabesques. The same vocabulary lives in our embroidery.
The eight-pointed star
Formed by two overlapping squares, the khatam appears on doors, fountains and fabrics. It stands for balance and harmony — a fitting symbol for garments made to be passed down.
Infinite lattices
Geometric patterns in Moroccan craft are designed to repeat without end. Our artisans use the same principle along a hem or a placket, so the eye keeps travelling across the piece.
Arabesques and nature
Curling vines and stylised flowers bring softness to the geometry. On a caftan sleeve they echo the gardens of Marrakech and Fès.
